IS GEORGIA ON YOUR MIND?

One party Democratic rule is good, at least that is what a recent CNN poll states. With the Begich surge in AK and the recount about to start in MN we are close, very close to getting a filibuster proof congress. It may all come down to Georgia and the Senate race between our candidate Jim Martin and the `Shameless one' Saxby Chambliss. You may remember this despicable ad Shameless ran against Max Cleland a Vietnam veteran who left 3 limbs on the battlefield while Saxby claimed he had other things to do and got deferment after deferment to avoid service. Otherwise known as a Chickenhawk.

The metro Atlanta area inside the perimeter is a treasure trove of votes for Jim Martin, similar to the beltway in NoVa. But the real surge in votes is out in the suburb and exurb areas of Gwinnett and Cobb counties. In 2004 Kerry got 81k votes in Gwinnett while Obama received 128k this year. Cobb had a similar surge going from 103k votes in '04 to 141k votes this year. The best part...republican numbers stayed flat. Turning out almost the same numbers this year as in 2004.

How can you help? By making phone calls, sending contributions and considering heading down to Georgia for a couple of weekends to help us win this seat. We are in the process of setting up the phone banking system now for out of state help. If you email me sndeak [at] gmail.com,  I can get you in contact with the coordinator for this effort in our area.

Last night I dropped by our office to start getting things ready and found 5 volunteer field directors from Missouri in the office making calls to our Obama volunteers organizing a meeting for this Sunday. It was great to see the energy and commitment from people who have no ties to Georgia coming in to help. I understand more are on the way.

Having an army of callers from out of state allows us to focus on getting boots on the ground to canvass and make face-to-face contact. With a turnout of about 15% expected, it will all come down to the ground game.

One last thing....We have 2 partisan races in this statewide run-off. Jim Powell, a Navy veteran and 20 year Energy Department senior executive is running for the Public Service Commission. There are no Democrats currently on the commission. They are in the pockets of the big energy companies and we desperately need a consumer advocate on the PSC. Please consider showing Jim Powell some love while making phone calls.

I'll be dropping by from time to time to give you updates of how things are looking on the ground.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

MyDD -The Clinton Echo Chamber

This used to be the first site I visited every day. That is no longer the case. It's really become rather pathetic.

Oh well, off to read OpenLeft.

Clinton supports Clusterbombs in civilian areas

I guess she was just trying to show her "tough side" like with the IWR and Iranian votes. Another calculated vote perhaps?

Amendment to HR 5631
To Protect Civilian lives from unexploded cluster munitions.

Sec. 8109. No funds appropriated or otherwise made available by this Act my be obligated or expended to acquire, utilize, sell, or transfer any cluster munition unless the rules of engagement applicable to the cluster munition ensure that the cluster munition will not be used in or near any concentrated population of civilians, whether permanent or temporary, including inhabited parts of cities or villages, camps or columns of refugees or evacuees, or camps or groups of nomads.

Obama voted for the ban along with 29 other Democrats on September 6, 2006. Roll call for the vote.

Obama supporters...Help in Wisconsin today

The heavily populated portion of Wisconsin is getting slammed with ice and snow today. We will not be able to get out and canvas.

Please consider calling into Wisconsin today to help Obama. Go HERE to get started.....PLEASE.

Recent polls have Obama up 47-41, too close to call.

Both sides need to STFU W/Poll

This has got to stop. We are tearing our party apart!!!

The condescending tone from the Clinton supporters.

The constant personal jabs from the Obama supporters.

Everybody needs to stop pissing one each others shoes. Civil debate about where the candidates will take us is what we should be doing here. Not trying to out-do each other by tearing the candidates down.

Overall, the 3 candidates are very similar about the issues, especially compared to the field on the other side.

My God....stop for a few minutes, clear your heads and really take a serious look at what this site is turning into.

All of us have been guilty of it, myself included. I'm sick of it.

I've made it clear that I really don't want to see another Clinton in the whitehouse. I have also said I will support the nominee, regardless of whether it is Obama, Edwards or Clinton. How many others here will do the same.

Someone has put up this ad on YouTube concerning Republican Jim Whitehead and the Special Election in GA-10. Whitehead made a comment to the press that the war wasn't the major issue in the 10th district. AP picked up the story last week and so has WTOP

Jason Carter, Co-founder of Democrats Work and grandson of President Jimmy Carter, spoke to the Gwinnett County Georgia Democrats Saturday morning at our monthly breakfast at the Georgia Diner. It was a good crowd with a mix of long time party folks as well as more than a few first timers.
